TWO TYPES OF STEREO TYPE PERSONALITIES:
Stress prone personalities belong to type A and hardy personalities are supposed to belong from type B, type B personalities shows much better resistance to stress. It was S. Kobasa who distinguished the two types of personalities. According to him TYPE A are those who give up very easily in front of stress they are much disease prone, depression, anger, hostility and anxiety which in turn pushes them more into the clutches of headaches, ulcers, asthma, arthritis, and heart diseases they are more susceptible to get into the clutches of these diseases which may elaborate if stress continues to overdo. Hostility plays a major factor in the lives of these people leading to coronary heart diseases; they have high cortisol levels, which may interfere with the metabolism of lipids and cholesterol thus forming fatty plaques in the arteries.
Such people are ultra stress prone individuals leading to hyper sensitivity and hyper responsive to stress, they even ruminate and day dream about stressful events, cannot put stress causing agents at bay thus even end up having nightmares about a particular stressful event.
Type B personalities display three characteristics: commitment, control and challenge. These individuals are high on all of this three counts exhibit a feeling of meaningfulness, in their work and relationships, a sense of being in control of events around them, and a tendency to interpret stressors as challenges that will be overcome in a due course of time.
