Stress that Stress! [Part-3]

There are several major sources of stress:

1. Survival stress – When someone’s health is threatened then this stress takes over a person’s life, where you are put under pressure when your body experience some challenging or unpleasant activity. Here adrenaline is released by your body and you experience all the symptoms your body may prepare for fight or flight situation.

2. Internally generated stress – The events or the actions which are beyond our control which can come from anxiously worrying about some events which we cannot control that arises from a tense hurried approach to life or from some relationship problems that comes from your personal behavior. It can also come from an addiction to and enjoyment of stress.

3. Environmental and job related stress – Here the stress occurs due to your job or work profile it may come from noise, crowding, pollution, untidiness, dirt or some other distractions. Alternatively stress can aggravate from events at work.

4. Fatigue and overwork – It comes over a long period of time when you try to achieve too much in too little time or when you are not using effective time management strategies.

Out of the many folds of stresses the most common ones are the job and life style related stress or in fact they form the bulk stressors now specific stressors will be highlighted upon to identify your particular stressor or there are multiple factors for your stress.

5. Life style and job related stress

Many of the stressors come from these two factors and it may include:

– Job related stress
– Too much or too little work
– Forced to perform beyond your experience or perceived abilities.
– The need to overcome or unnecessary obstacles has to overcome
– Keeping a pace with the new updated developments
– Variation or changes in procedures and policies
– Lack of clear objectives, information, support or supportive group with unclear expectations of your role from your higher authority or boss responsibility for people, budgets or equipments.

6. Career development stress –

– Demotion, frustration and boredom with the current role play
– Over or excessive promotion beyond abilities
– Lack of clear plan for further career development
– Lack of opportunity
– Lack of job security

7. Personal and family stresses –

– Financial problem
– Relationship problems
– Ill heath
– Family changes such as birth, death, marriage or divorce
