As usual GC on the previous year captured most of the Ganesha’s in the city, along with its rituals, the mythological reasoning behind the festival, but with much ado GC always focused on the realistic based ritual & celebrations keeping in mind ecology at its principal axis, the focus being the nature…
The image formed thus will be strong & erect proving GC’s perception, GC always recommended the Pooja committees for newer eco-friendly methods of celebrating all the festivals not just GANESH CHATURTHI, ranging from eco-friendly idols made out of plain black soil & not POP (Plaster Of Paris), or idols curved out fruits & vegetables or say dry fruits even flowers so that after the immersion of those idols their remnants would be devoured up by aquatic animals etc, the offerings or the ‘prasad’ even to be distributed in eco-friendly disposable bowls made out of paper or say leaves…
The decorations to be done by potted plants, flowers or may be recycled paper or so but to say no to plastic decorative articles or even Styrofoam, the immersion to be done in make shift made water tanks & naturally after the water gets dried up or evaporates the molten idols will be in the form of fine soil can be used for agricultural purposes, thus no damage to ecosystem, GC not just practices but even preaches or vice versa that after Puja/worship GC keeps its idols in the garden to be taken over by nature thus after the rains the idols entirely sublimates in to the soil…
to be continued…
