To be murdered brutally for expressing our views in public is considered inhuman across all frontiers, and equally bloody and then that individual is even cornered, whether you are hacked by machetes as has happened in Dhaka to some liberal free thinkers or mowed down by barrage of gun shots as seen in Mumbai, Pune or Dharwad and moresoever further, when a mob feels authorized by rumours-whether of desecrating the KURAN (as in Kabul), and (in Kot Radha Kishan near Lahore) or (of storing beef as in Dadri), to take the law in to its own hands and beat the person brutally to death, can we really insist that there is no crisis…???
No matter what or whom we vote as our representative in our the so called quote unquote secular democratic world, or whom we choose to vote can deny that multiple attacks time on time on those innocent writers, journalists, activists, actors, students and needless to mention us the poor civilians, their one and only crime they expressed their views in public or so as to say thought so of expressing their thought process openly for which they were rewarded with such shameless brutality which we all have witnessed since many years, the story doesn’t end here but extends its horrifying clutches and the violations have extended from horrifying murders of rationalists to the forced symbolic death of say PERUMAL MURUGAN, from the ink attack on SUDHEENDRA KULKARNI at a book launch to the criminalization of ARUNDHATI ROY for a magazine article, to the imprisonment of KIKU SHARDA, for a comic skit, from the vicious high profile trolling and also misquoting of many other known film actors to the lesser publicized people and most ironic shutting down and relocating of SIDDHARTH VARADARAJANS speech on talking about freedom of speech.
Ok well leaving aside the celebrity and high profile dignitaries and intellectuals aside can we consider the freedom of youngsters and students the so called future generation of our country…?? Can we ignore the arrest of students for their facebook posts as for last year’s class XI student from Rampur, or the atrocious public attacks on students for their race, caste, creed or culture whether from north east or from Tanzania…???
to be continued…
