Newcastle have been linked with Laxalt since the window re-opened.
Italian outlet CalcioMercato have claimed that AC Milan are willing to part ways with Diego Laxalt just six months after signing him from Genoa, and are keen to strike a deal with Newcastle United.
Milan bought the 25-year-old in the summer after the versatile left-footer shone at the World Cup for Uruguay. Newcastle were linked with a move then, but he chose Milan instead.
Now, Newcastle are said to have enquired over a move for Laxalt, but they face a challenge in tempting the 15-time Uruguay international to move to Tyneside. Italian sides Lazio and Atalanta are also said to be keen.
The report claims Milan only want £10.7million for Laxalt despite signing him in the summer for about £12.5million. He has struggled at the San Siro since his move to the Serie A heavyweights.
Laxalt has managed 19 appearances in all competitions, but 11 of those have been from the substitutes bench. During his eight starts, he has been taken off four times – meaning he has completed 90 minutes on just four occasions.
Though Laxalt has a contract until the summer of 2022 after signing a four-year deal in the last window, it appears that he has little future at Milan under Gennaro Gattuso and Newcastle now know how much they need to pay to sign Laxalt.
